Free meal at Leetonia Mennonite

LEETONIA - A free meal will be served at 6 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Leetonia Mennonite Church. A program follows at 7 p.m.

Rummage sale at Nazarene Church

SALEM - The "In Christ's Hands" workshop is sponsoring an indoor rummage sale Oct. 2-6 at the Nazarene Church, 1431 N. Ellsworth Ave. The public is invited from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Proceeds will benefit the workshop's clients.

Gospel Sing at Bethesda Life Church

SALEM - A "Gospel Sing" begins at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at Bethesda Life Church, 357 N. Howard Ave. Bluegrass Gospel Roundup will be the featured singers. A coverdish fellowship follows.

Italian fest at St. Patrick Catholic Church

LEETONIA - The public is invited to an Italian Feast from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 167 Main St., Leetonia. Tickets are $10 and available after Mass on Sunday. Reservations will also be accepted by calling Suzanne Tobuck at 330-427-6188.

The menu offers appetizers, sausage-zucchini soup, salad, green beans almondine, ziti and meatballs, Tuscan garlic lemon chicken, roll and dessert. Italian music will be provided by John Gabriel. There also will be a 50/50 drawing, raffles, and Italian basket. All proceeds will benefit the local St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Leetonia.

Great Pumpkin Patch at EP church

EAST PALESTINE -Centenary United Methodist Church at 40 S. Market St. will hold its annual Great Pumpkin Patch on the front lawn at the church. Various items for sale include pumpkins of all shapes and sizes and other seasonal decorations. The Pumpkin Patch will be open Oct. 6-31. All proceeds go to the United Methodist Youth Fellowship Fund. For more information call 330-426-2629.

Rummage sale in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA - The First United Methodist Church at 210 S. Main St. will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 5 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6. For more information call the church office at 330-482-2382 or 330-831-1112.

Drive-thru chicken dinner in North Lima

NORTH LIMA - The Calvary United Methodist Church of North Lima will hold its monthly drive-thru chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 11, or until sold out. The dinner consists of stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $6 per dinner. The church is located at the junctions of routes 164 and 165 in North Lima at 12062 South Avenue. For more information call 330-549-2588. A portion of the profits is used for mission projects.

Red Mass at Mt. Carmel Church

YOUNGSTOWN - The 16th annual Red Mass, a traditional celebration for those who serve in the judicial and legal professions, begins at noon Oct. 25 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 343 Via Mt. Carmel. Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, will be homilist.

The Red Mass is intended to bring together members of the bench and bar in prayerful communion for guidance, strength, and recommitment to the highest principles of the legal profession for the benefit of all citizens of the community.

Following Mass, a luncheon will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Hall. Reservations are necessary for the luncheon (note special dietary needs) and checks in the amount of $20 may be made payable to the Diocese of Youngstown. All people involved in the legal profession in Northeast Ohio are welcome to attend. Warm Up Salem Coat Drive

SALEM - Local businesses, churches, and others in the community are working together to provide those in need with a warm coat, gloves, hat and scarves through the annual Warm Up Salem Coat Drive. This year's event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Centennial Park. There is no pre-registration and everyone is welcome. Donations, both of coats and money, are now being accepted. The first Saturday of each November the coat drive is set up in the park with the help of the Realife Church family, the Chuck Wagon of Hope, Not Just Smoke, the Salvation Army and many others, who serve a hot meal, coffee, coats and the love of Jesus to those in attendance. All for free.

Helping Hands Craft Show

WARREN - The Helping Hands Craft Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Howland Community Church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road. Food will also be available for purchase. This event is sponsored by the Missions and Outreach Committee, Food Cupboard and Operation Shoeleather. Admission $2 per person. For information about reserving a table call 330-856-3628.

Local chapels to receive broadcast

LISBON - The 182nd semi-annual worldwide General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be broadcast live from The Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Oct. 6 and 7. The live broadcast will be received at the Alliance Chapel, 2260 Hedgewood Ave., and the Lisbon Chapel, 7250 Lisbon Road, noon and 4 p.m. both days. Thomas S. Monson, president of the Church, will speak during the Sunday morning. Messages will be given by the First Presidency, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and other general authorities and general officers of the Church. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir will provide the music for the Saturday morning, Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon sessions of General Conference. The Choir's broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word" will be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Swiss steak dinner set in Winona
