NORTH LIMA - The North Lima Business and Shopping Complex will present its first Business and Community Expo from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
The complex is located at 11836 South Ave. in the old South Range High School building.
The family-oriented event is designed to support and promote local businesses, crafters and talent and is open to anyone, organizer Michelle Au said.
Vendors interested in renting space will pay $40 for premium gym space (10 by 12-feet) and $20 for regular spaces (various sizes from six by 20 feet to four by 30 feet) throughout the building. The payment deadline for vendor space and Chinese auction baskets is Sept. 22.
Vendors must bring their own tables and chairs. Set up times are from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Saturday.
The event includes live entertainment with music, singers, dancers, face painters, a petting zoo, food, demonstrations, special offers and surprises.
There will non-profit companies attending including Angel Charities, Au said, adding that political parties will be setting up.
She said the business center is a polling place for five precincts "so they asked" and it will give them a chance to advertise where to vote.
So far the Democratic and Republican parties have obtained space.
The Chinese auction proceeds will benefit the Big Reach Center of Hope in Greenford, according to Au.
They will also be collecting dry goods, clothing and toys for needy families for Christmastime giveaways.
Things Remembered, a store that says it has over 1,000 one-of-a-kind gifts, will set up a warehouse and Au said they may be looking to hire people.
"We'll have a little of everything, it will be diverse with arts, crafts and antique demonstrations in the gym," she said, "and all the businesses in our building will be open.
"Anybody who has anything they need to promote for the community is welcome."
