Salem sweeps Marlington
MARLINGTON - The Salem varsity volleyball team dropped Marlington in straight sets Thursday 25-16, 25-16, 25-15.
Lindsey Foster had 12 kills and two tips, and Maria Shivers added eight kills and a tip. Katherine Stiff tallied 13 assists.
The Salem J.V. team also won 25-14, 21-25, 25-17. Kelly Barley had 29 assists, Olivia Stiff had 10 kills, Dori Miller had nine kills, and Alyssa Pallo added 12 digs.
The J.V. squad (7-1) plays Austintown-Fitch and Girard at Girard Saturday.
The Lady Quakers (5-3, 4-2 NBC) play Girard and Austintown-Fitch Saturday in Austintown.
Wellsville drops Leetonia
LEETONIA - Wellsville cruised to a 25-17, 25-9, 25-5 victory over Leetonia in girls varsity volleyball action on Thursday.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 8-1 on the season and 5-0 in the Inter Tri-County League.
Wellsville's leaders Thursday include Shayna Hamilton with 33 assists and four aces, Sarah Skinner with 14 aces and five kills, Jayla Martin with three aces and 19 kills and Brittany Clendenning with four kills and two blocks.
Wellsville also won the junior varsity match, 25-9, 25-8. Makayla Spicer had five aces and Mystic Beatty had four aces and eight assists for the Tigers.
Wellsville hosts Lowellville on Tuesday.
Columbiana takes WR
COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Lady Clippers defeated Western Reserve in three sets 25-18, 25-13, 25-19 Thursday.
Leading Columbiana was Cassandra Sampson with nine kills and seven digs. Shayla Ray added seven kills, 15 points, five blocks, three aces and four digs. Cassidy Stoddard had 14 points, 19 assists, three aces and 13 digs.
For Reserve (5-2, 3-2 ITCL Tier 2) Jenny Stubbs had 10 points and 17 digs. Alexis Miller added two kills, 10 points and three digs.
The Columbiana J.V. team also won 25-27, 25-20, 25-22. Haley Tohm had 13 points, two kills and three blocks. Hannah Hum had 12 digs and five kils.
Columbiana plays a tri-match at Crestview Monday against the Lady Rebels and Heartland Christian.
Springfield tops United
NEW MIDDLETOWN - Springfield defeated United in four sets Thursday 25-16, 26-18, 26-28, 25-14.
Leading the Lady Tigers was Olivia Williamson with 18 points, three kills and four blocks. Marissa Buchenic had 11 points and 30 assists, and Morgan Buchenic added 14 kills and four blocks.
For United, Tara Gray had 11 kills, nine points and six digs. Mollie Phillis recorded five blocks.
United won the J.V. affair 22-25, 28-26, 26-18. Brooke Bullen had 10 points for Springfield.
Springfield plays Saturday at Canfield.
Range tops EP
CANFIELD - South Range defeated East Palestine in straight sets 25-17, 25-12, 25-23. Leading Range was Ashley Shetter with 13 kills, nine digs, an ace and six points. Stevie Taylor added nine kills, 12 digs, two aces and six points.
For EP (2-8, 0-6 ITCL Tier 1), Carley Sansenbaugher had 10 digs, nine points, 14 blocks and three kills.
Megan Brown added 10 digs and six assists.
The South Range J.V. team (7-0) also won 25-17, 25-15. Sarah Moretti had six kills, two digs and an ace. Morgan Sauerwein had seven assists and three aces.
South Range (6-3, 4-2 ITCL Tier 1) travels to Jackson-Milton Tuesday.
United 7, Jackson-Milton 1
NORTH JACKSON - United's Riley Fillman scored three goals and added an assist in a 7-1 win over Jackson-Milton Wednesday.
Cole Weikart added two goals and an assist. Andrew Martin and Ben Sell added goals, and Ian Hardgrove tacked on an assist.
United (3-3-1) plays Saturday at 10 a.m. at Canton South.
United 4, Canton McKinley
HANOVERTON - United blanked Canton McKinley 4-0 Thursday in girls soccer action. Leading United was Mackenzie Gatchel with two goals. Becky Althouse and Emily Guappone both added a goal apiece.
The United J.V. team also won 10-0.
United (5-0-1) will play noon Saturday at Canton South.
United 170, Lisbon 196
LISBON - United defeated Lisbon 170-196 in golf action Thursday.
Leading United was Bradley Miller with a 37. Kasen Smith posted a 41, Hayden Wilson 46 and Caleb Berdine 46.
Lisbon was led by Avery Andric with a 44. Logan Kress and Jordan Rutecki shot 50s and Lucas Tolson 52.

ALLIANCE - West Branch dropped Alliance 4-1 in tennis action Thursday. West Branch (6-4, 2-2 NBC) hosts East Liverpool Monday.

BOARDMAN - Salem seventh grade volleyball won 25-21, 12-25, 25-23 over Boardman Center Thursday. Paige Butcher had seven points and five aces. Alyssa Laubacher had seven points, four aces and a kill. Laci Ewing added four points, an ace and three tips. Alexis Vanhorn added two points and two kills. Allie Davidson-Chuck also had two points, two aces and four aces.
Salem (4-4) will play Monday at Carrollton.
