Village Varieties take home honors from Canfield Fair

Eight riders from the Village Varieties 4-H Club, which meets in North Benton, returned from a week of competition at the Canfield Fair. Pictured are members who met to clean and paint tack boxes, first row, from left, Emma Jarvis, Makala Bell, Paige Sanor, Lizzy McClung; second row, Cole Chumney, Ryan Carver, Mikala Lesitsky and Ashlee Dustman. Four of the eight actually won championships at the fair. In addition to a big ribbon, earning belt buckles were McClung, Barrel Racing; Chumney, Walk Trot Pole Bending; Lesitsky,Western Horsemanship; and Carver, Speed and Control. McClung also won the "Contest Classic" which is the overall winner when scores from four times events are combined. The other members made personal goals and earned ribbons as well, including Emma Jarvis getting three reserve champion honors. The horse members are guided by advisor Jeri Close.
