COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Athletic Boosters will meet at 7:30 p.m. today in the high school commons.

United High Class of 1960 will meet for breakfast

HANOVERTON - United High School Class of 1960 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Salem High Class of 1969 will meet for lunch

SALEM -The Salem High School Class of 1969 plans to meet for lunch at noon Sunday at BB Rooners.

Public invited to ice cream social luncheon

NEW WATERFORD - The public is invited to an ice cream social luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the New Waterford United Methodist Church, 46926 S. State St.

Donations will be accepted.

Band will perform during Johnny Appleseed Festival

LISBON - The Tribute band will perform from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Johnny Appleseed Festival, behind the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4111.

This event is free and open to the public. The band will perform favorite tunes from the 50s to the present.

Model Club holding aircraft fun fly Sunday

COLUMBIANA - The Mahoning County Model Club is holding a radio-controlled aircraft fun fly from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Shaker Woods flying field on County Line Road.

Whispering Pines Village celebrating 10th anniversary

COLUMBIANA - Whispering Pines Village at 937 E. Park Ave., an assisted and independent living facility, will celebrate its 10th anniversary from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The first 100 visitors who sign the visitor log will receive a free etched WPV wine glass.

The Banquet in Salem will be served Monday

SALEM- The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building.

Next week's sponsor in the Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association. The menu offers pasta with meatballs, green beans, salad, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cake. Additional sponsors are needed. For more information call 330-831-2169.

Beaver Local BOE accepts Buchheit's resignation

LISBON - The Beaver Local Board of Education has accepted the resignation with regret of board member Brad Buchheit, effective Sept. 10. 2012.

Berlin Center Historical Society hosting fall festival

BERLIN CENTER - The Berlin Center Historical Society will host its annual fall festival from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Weidenmier House on Route 224.

Music will be presented by the students from Western Reserve School. At 3:30 p.m., Dr. Paul Olson will talk about the 1940s and 1950s in Berlin Center.

There will be Westerwald crocks and honey pots for sale imprinted with Berlin Center 1828. There will also be a display of Dustman pottery.

Tickets will sold for the annual quilt raffle. The Berlin Center Fire Department will serve its annual barbecue chicken dinner next door from 3 to 7 p.m. For more information call 330-547-4593.

Salem High Class of 1968 will meet at alumni office

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1968's meeting at the SHS alumni office begins at 6 p.m. Sept. 25.

All classmates are welcome to schedule the 45th-year class reunion.

Paper Retriever recycling bin placed at First Christian

COLUMBIANA - The First Christian Church of Columbiana has placed a Paper Retriever recycling bin in its parking lot at 39 Cherry St.. Paper Retriever is a community based program that combines recycling and fund raising.

All paper products such as newspapers, magazines, catalogs, mail, folders and paperback books are accepted. Shredded paper can also be accepted but must be bagged. No cardboard or plastic is accepted.

All funds generated through this Paper Retriever will go to the Oasis Food Ministry that will be opening soon at the church.

Ellsworth Presbyterian Church hosting dinner

ELLSWORTH - The Ellsworth Presbyterian Church will be hosting a chicken and biscuit dinner from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.

The dinner includes chicken and gravy over biscuits, mashed potatoes, vegetable, applesauce, dessert and beverage. Take outs will be available.

Costs are $7.50 for adults and $3.50 for children 4-11. Children 3 and under are free. For information, contact Sherry Weamer at 330-538-3771.

The church is located at 11171 US. Route 224, just west of the intersection with state Route 45.

Berlin Township Volunteer FD holding Chicken BBQ

BERLIN TOWNSHIP - The Berlin Township Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Chicken BBQ from 3-7 p.m. Saturday at the Berlin Fire Station located along US. Route 224, just west of the intersection with state Route 534.

The dinner will include a half of barbecue chicken, parsley potatoes, green beans, roll and dessert. Ham may be substituted while quantities last. Carryouts will be available.

Adult tickets are $8 and children 12 and under are $5. No pre-sale tickets will be sold.
