Beaver Local 3, Wellsville 2

CALCUTTA - In a hard-fought match, the Beavers did enough to win.

Beaver Local pulled out a five-set match on Monday against Wellsville, handing the Tigers their first defeat of the season.

The Beavers won by scores of 28-26, 13-25, 23-25, 25-15, 15-12.

The win moves Beaver Local to 5-2 on the season.

Laini Roberts finished with 16 points, two aces and 24 digs, while Sierra Wright added eight points, one ace, nine digs, four assists, six kills and three blocks.

Lynsey Reckner had nine points, one ace and eight digs.

Nevada Dobbs finished with six points, nine digs, 19 kills and 10 blocks, while Ali Buchheit added eight point, two aces, seven digs, 16 assists, seven kills and five blocks.

In junior varsity action, Beaver Local won, 25-9, 27-25. Bobbie Ann Theiss and Courtney Messenger led the Beavers (5-2) with six points each.

Beaver Local will play at Canfield today.

Oak Glen, Edison, Steubenville CC

NEW MANCHESTER - Two up, two down.

The Oak Glen volleyball team earned two victories on Monday in a tri-match they hosted.

Against Edison, the Bears came out on top, 25-22, 23-25, 26-24.

Sydney Kell finished with five points, one ace, 17 assists and four kills, while Vanessa Hissam added seven points, 10 kills and two blocks.

Morgan Poling had 15 points, eight kills, eight blocks and nine digs.

Lacee Porter finished with six points, 10 kills and one block, while Kaitlyn Smith added 11 points, one ace and 15 digs.

Against Catholic Central, Oak Glen won by scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-18.

Kell finished with 12 points, three aces, 25 assists, two kills and three digs, while Poling added 18 points, five kills, nine blocks and five digs.

Porter had seven points, two aces, 10 kills and one block.

Smith finished with six points, two aces and seven digs.

In reserve action, Oak Glen defeated Edison, 25-18, 25-13. Emmy Delekta led the Bears with 11 points, followed by Brianna Evans with seven.

Against the Crusaders, Oak Glen won, 28-26, 22-25, 25-21. Evans led with 10, followed by Delekta with nine.

The Bears will host East Liverpool today.

East Liverpool 3, Struthers 0

STRUTHERS - The Potters went on the road and came back winners.

East Liverpool traveled to Struthers on Monday and returned with a straight set victory, 25-13, 25-23, 25-21.

The win moves the Potters to 5-2 on the season.

Jordan Chupa finished with 17 points and four kills, while Kylie Golden added 12 points and four digs.

Taylor Jordan had 47 attacks, 17 kills and six assists.

Morgan Campbell finished with five points, 24 attacks and 10 kills, while Jordyn Adkins added 19 assists.

Kiara Cowart had four blocks and seven kills.

In reserve action, East Liverpool earned its first win of the season, 25-10, 25-21.

Kylie Kreefer led the Potters (1-6) with eight points, while Cori Webb added six points.

Sierra Voorhees had five assists, and Sierra Nichols had five points and five kills.

East Liverpool will travel to rival Oak Glen today.

Southern Local 3, Ygs. East 0

YOUNGSTOWN - The Indians made a long trip to Youngstown and then made easy work of East.

Southern Local defeated Youngstown East on Monday, 25-13, 25-7, 25-6, to improve its record to 7-4 on the season.

Hannah Brothers led the Indians with 41 sets, 11 assists, 12 points, one ace, one kill and five digs.

Abbey Smalley finished with nine aces, two kills, eight digs and 21 points, while Emily Jenkins added seven sets, seven kills, one ace and 14 points.

Brandi Hunt had four aces, four kills, three sets and eight points.

In junior varsity action, Southern Local won, 25-10, 25-6.

Kenzie Mosti led the Indians with 25 sets, nine points and four aces, while Casey Howdershelt had three aces, three kills and four points.

The Indians will host Lowellville on Thursday.


Beaver Local 171, Niles 200

CALCUTTA - Emily Blaner posted a 40 to lead the Beavers to a 171-200 victory on Monday against Niles at Beaver Meadows.

Hayden Moore shot a 43 for Beaver Local, which improves to 5-9 on the season.

Also for the Beavers, Landon Palma and Joe Newlin both finished with a 44.

Niles' low-man was Jack Nicholson with a 43.

Up next for Beaver Local will be a home match tomorrow against Canfield.


East Liverpool

EAST LIVERPOOL - The East Liverpool 7th grade volleyball team defeated Weirton on Monday, 25-23, 19-25, 25-8.

Aerieen Brown led the Potters (1-1) with 18 points, followed by Kianbria Cowart and Stephanie Emmerling with six points each.

In 8th grade action, East Liverpool won, 25-13, 25-10.

Katelyn Sandreth led the Potters (2-0) with 11 points, followed by Carla Allison with nine points.

East Liverpool will host Follansbee today.

Beaver Local

TORONTO - The Beaver Local 7th grade volleyball team defeated Toronto on Monday, 25-6, 25-20.

Megan Buchheit led the Beavers with 27 points.

The 8th grade was also victorious, 25-15, 23-25, 25-6.

Bailee Rinestine led Beaver Local with 15 points, followed by Sidney Bowyer with 13 points.

Beaver Local will host Weirton today.


COLUMBIANA - In a tri-match on Saturday, the Southern Local 7th grade volleyball team defeated Wellsville, 25-9, 25-9.

Anna Sevek led the Indians with 17 points, followed by Lizzie Willis and Allison Forbes with five points each.

Menina Jackson led the Tigers with two points.

Columbiana beat Southern Local, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21.

Willis led the Indians with 13 points, followed by Sevek with nine.

In 8th grade action, Wellsville beat Southern Local, 25-15, 25-23.

Alexis Daniel and Sarah Dalrymple led the Tigers with nine points apiece.

Southern Local beat Columbiana, 25-16, 14-25, 25-22.

Siera Boyle led the Indians with nine points, followed by Alexis Gross with seven points.

Oak Glen

NEW MANCHESTER - The Oak Glen 7th grade volleyball team lost to Weirton, 26-24, 25-22.

Kinsey Beaver led the Bears with 10 points.

The Oak Glen 8th grade team came out on top, 25-20, 25-12.

Maisie Witherow led the Bears with 10 points, followed by Dominica Price with seven points.

Oak Glen will host Edison on Thursday.
