Indians raised funds to fight breast cancer

SALINEVILLE -The Southern Local football coaches, players and fans were pink for the game against Lisbon back on Aug. 31, and they donated funds in support of the American Cancer Society's and the NFL's A Crucial Catch campaign. The campaign raises funds and awareness to fight breast cancer and provides hope to people facing the disease. The Southern Local students participated in a homeroom change competition throughout the week. Mrs. Skinner's homeroom collected the most money with $30. There was also a Think Pink dress day on the day before the game. At the game, donation stands were set up in multiple locations. In all, $250 was raised to be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Bowling league results announced

EAST LIVERPOOL - Love Others and Destine House are tied a top of the standings of the East Liverpool Men's Church Bowling League with records of 4-0. St. Al's, Senior Men, Believers and Rogers Assembly of God are all 3-1. First United Methodist, Wellsville Christian, Over/Hill and Longs Run Presbyterian are all 1-3. 3 Generations and St. John's Lutheran are both 0-4.

High school invitational accepting teams

CANFIELD - The Canfield High School tennis team will be hosting the Cardinal JV Invitational on Sept. 29. There will be several divisions of play, non-elimination. Varsity players, as well as JV players, from state sanctioned high schools or non-sanctioned teams/individuals can participate. Park Board sponsoring Riverfest 5K

NEW CUMBERLAND - The New Cumberland Park Boar is sponsoring The Oak Glen High School PE Riverfest 5K at 9 a.m. Sept. 29. The race is scheduled to begin at Hines Park Gazebo on Route 2 in New Cumberland. Proceeds will benefit the Oak Glen High School Physical Education Department. Registration forms are available at: the New Cumberland City Building, at the Hancock County schools, Trinity United Methodist Church, Plaza Lounge, Potts Marathon and Chaney's Service Station. Oak Glen basketball holding golf scramble

NEW MANCHESTER - The Oak Glen girls' and boys' basketball teams will be holding a four-person golf scramble at 9 a.m. Sept. 22 at Pleasant Hills golf course. The entry fee is $160 ($40 per golfer), and it includes lunch, and 18 holes with cart. Prizes for first and second place will be awarded. EL Touchdown Club to meet Tuesday

EAST LIVERPOOL - The East Liverpool Blue and White Touchdown Club will be having a Booster Club at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting at Dairy Queen.

Wellsville Touchdown Club to meet

WELLSVILLE - The Wellsville Touchdown Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the field. All parents are encouraged to attend. The club will be discussing things for the remainder of the season.

Beavers holding volleyball clinic

CALCUTTA - The Beaver Local coaching staff and players will be hosting a free youth volleyball clinic starting from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday. The clinic will run for four Saturdays. The clinic is open to Beaver Local girls fin grades 3-6. Information is available in each elementary building and at the middle school. For information contact Sarah.Lowe@beaverlocal.org.

Proceeds from game to go to scholarship fund

EAST LIVERPOOL - The East Liverpool girls' soccer teams plays at 6 p.m. Thursday against Oak Glen at Mangano Field. The game will be in memory of Emily Bickerton and all proceeds from the concession stand and 50/50 will be donated to the Emily Bickerton Memorial Scholarship fund. Shirts provided by All Sports will be sold for $10. All proceeds from the shirt sale will go to the the scholarship fund as well. Anyone interested in purchasing shirts can head coach Katie Smith or Lisa Cunningham. All orders must be placed by today
