DAMASCUS - Jack A. Kelly, 78, loving husband and father, passed on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at 9 a.m., at his home following a three-year illness.
He was born in Salem on Aug. 6, 1934. He was the son of the late T. Russell and Bernice (Rich) Kelly, and his stepmother Dorothy (Hamilton) Kelly.
Jack was a 1953 Salem High School graduate and attended Malone College and the Cleveland Bible College.
Jack was an aluminum die corrector for 40 years at the following companies: Damascus Metals in Damascus, Penn Aluminum in Newton Falls, Atec in Canfield, and Alcoa/Excel in Warren.
He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for eight years.
He was a member of the Salem First Friends Church, and taught in Junior Church, and helped with the Awana Program. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, restoring his Model A, collecting antique clocks, fishing and gardening.
Jack was the loving husband of Joyce A. (Golden) Kelly, whom he married Oct. 28, 1955.
Jack was the loving father of two sons, Terry (Sarah) Kelly of Beloit and Tim (Laura) Kelly of Canton; three daughters, Nancy (Brad) Pick of North Carolina, Sharon (Mike) Boso of Salem and Rhonda (Rob) Brandonisio of Dayton. He has 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim (Nancy) Kelly of Salem and Thom (Darlene) Kelly of Damascus; two half brothers, Fred Kelly and Phil (Nancy) Kelly of California; one half sister, Mary Lou (Don) Beeson of Leetonia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brad Kelly, on Feb. 24, 2007.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Stark Memorial Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. Pete Fowler of the church officiating. Burial will be at the Damascus Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held today from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Stark Memorial.
