LISBON - Columbiana County commissioners took care of the following routine business at this week's meeting.

- Hired Michael Hartly, 52, of Wellsville, as a courthouse security officer. He will serve on a fill-in basis.

- Awarded a contract to Shook Brothers of Berlin Center to replace the bridge on Main Street in Homeworth after the company submitted the low bid of $120,187. This was done on the recommendation of the county engineer's office.

- Declined to request a hearing before the Ohio Liquor Control Board for a liquor permit transfer request from Edling American Service, state Route 172, Guilford Lake, to Guilford Dairy Bar. Commissioners did not request a hearing because the Hanover Township trustees had no objection to the permit transfer.

- Adopted a resolution declaring Sept. 9 Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day. The idea is to bring public awareness to all of the potential health problems inflicted on the unborn when pregnant mothers drink alcohol. The slogan for this year's event is Not a Single Drop.
