KENSINGTON - Dorothy Mae Brown, 86, of Kensington died at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012, at the Salem Community Hospital.
She was born June 30, 1926 in Homeworth, Oh., the daughter of the late Lewis S. and Lillie Mae (Reed) McBride.
Mrs. Brown was the head cook for Southern Local Schools for 17 years. She was a 1944 graduate of Southern Local High School, a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church and a member of the Georgie Boys Motor Home Club.
Dorothy enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, gardening, traveling and loved her family.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Wayne Brown, whom she married May 3, 1947; a daughter, Sandy (Randy) Heestand of Casa Grande, Arizona; 3 sons, Kenneth (Kathy) Brown of Canton, Dwaine (Susan) Brown of Huntington, Texas and Donald (Theresa) Brown of Alliance; six brothers, Bob (Barbara) McBride of Salem, Roy C. (Martha) McBride of Beloit, Frank (Helen) Mcbride of Beloit, Jim (Peggy) McBride of Alliance, Bill (Joan) McBride of Beloit and Richard
McBride of Michigan; 5 sisters, Mary Lou Barnes of Sebring, Ida Sanor of Beloit, Martha (Joe) Brodzenski of Sebring, Shirley Summers of Minerva and Betty (Marion) Kitzmiller of Homeworth; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Brown was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ada Delong and Ruth Ann Oberlin and a daughter-in-law, Cindie Brown.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church, Bethesda Road, (off Route 644) Hanoverton with Rev. Tom Allmon officiating.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home in Salem on Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
