NEW MIDDLETOWN -Robert G. "Bob" Paskey, formerly of Boardman, now residing in New Middletown, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012.
He was born in Youngstown and preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Schweigert Paskey.
Bob married upon first sight, the love of his life, Virginia (Ginny) Jones Paskey, in 1964. A loving and devoted father, Bob is survived by his two children and best friends, Ken Paskey of Poland, Ohio and Linda Paskey, formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., now living in Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by his sister, Marianne Whitehouse, of Youngstown, Ohio, sister in-law, Barbara Ormiston, of Minerva, Ohio, his dear cousin Kathy (Kagey) Kennedy, his four cats (whom he especially adored) and countless friends.
A patriot, Bob proudly served his country from 1958 to 1960 with the United States Army Corp and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return from service, Bob worked for the TASCO Insulation Company as the warehouse foreman and truck driver for 32 years before retiring in 2000. Always one with a strong work ethic, he continued to work as a driver for Jim's Auto of New Middletown. He was a long-time and active member of the Tri-County 4 Wheelers, Teamsters Local 377, Youngstown Model Railroad Club and the YMCA where he walked several times a week.
Bob was a master carpenter and his impeccable workmanship will stand as a brilliant reminder of his talent. From handcrafting every element of his and Ginny's home, to helping out neighbors and friends, to winning "Best of Show" at the Canfield Fair in 2010, to constructing custom pieces from his daughters drawings he really could do it all.
Bob's strong faith, love of family, commitment to friends, bright smile, wonderful wit and his giving and compassionate spirit will be remembered by all who came in contact with him. Although he will be profoundly missed here on earth, he is watching over us from the heavens every day.
