Grand jury issues indictments

LISBON - The Columbiana County grand jury issued 14 indictments this week, including nine open indictments. The remaining five secret indictments will be released when they are served.

Joseph D. Davis Jr., 28, Longs Church Road, East Liverpool, is charged with two counts of arson, fourth-degree felonies, and two counts breaking and entering, fifth-degree felonies.. Court documents state on July 11 Davis first broke into two vacant homes on Anderson Boulevard in East Liverpool with the purpose of stealing items from inside. Then he allegedly set fire to each home.

Randy L. Spencer, 35, Youngstown, is charged with trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs, both fourth-degree felonies. Court documents allege Spencer had more than five grams of cocaine but less than 10 grams in his possession on Feb. 2, including at least some which appeared ready or intended for sale.

Jonathan M. Cobb, 21, Roosevelt Avenue, Salem, is charged with burglary, a third-degree felony. Court documents allege Cobb trespassed into his mother's home on Washington Avenue, Salem, with the purpose of committing a criminal act on July 9.

Bradley A. Carpenter, 27, Creek Road, New Waterford, is charged with receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. According to court documents, on July 8 Carpenter had a 1997 pickup belonging to Charles Rogers.

David D. Crooms, 45, Clarks Mill Road, Salineville, is charged with assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, after allegedly injuring Steven Digman during a home invasion on May 28 by punching him twice in the face.

Edwin Miranda Jr., 39, Beechwood, Salem, is charged with domestic violence, a third-degree felony. According to court documents, Miranda allegedly caused physical injuries to his wife, Stacy Miranda, on July 17. He has been previously convicted of domestic violence in March 2006 and October 2004.

Megan E. Cameron, 26, Youngstown, is charged with assault, a fourth-degree felony after allegedly biting and spitting on EMS personnel in New Waterford, while they were attempting to provide her with medical assistance on June 17.

Joseph B. Halfhill, 28, Hadley Road, East Palestine, is charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony. Court documents allege Halfhill, on July 19, was driving a Jeep with an expired registration and ran from New Waterford police at speeds up to 70 mph before the pursuit was discontinued.

Jeremy A. Bender, 34, last known address North Broadway, Salem, is charged with failure to verify his address on July 12. He has a previous importuning conviction in July 2007 in Lorain County and is required to verify his address to the sheriff's department on a regular basis.
