- Herbert S. Cain, 85, Quaker Lane, Salem, was southbound on state Route 154 in Fairfield Township at 4 p.m. Aug. 20 and was stopped at the stop sign at the state Route 164 intersection. Jerry L. Mathes, 41, Woodland Drive, Columbiana, was westbound on Route 164 and Cain failed to yield right of way and pulled out in front of Mathes and struck his vehicle. Mathes then went off the right side of the road and struck a tree and came to rest in a yard. Cain was cited for right of way and taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. His passenger, Suzanne L. Cain, 85, was also taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Michelle Mislosky, 22, Woodland Drive, Columbiana, a passenger in Mathes' vehicle, was also taken to St. Elizabeth with non-incapacitating injuries.
