Area youth to compete for 4-H royalty

CANFIELD - Area youth will compete for 4-H royalty at this year's Canfield Fair.

The Mahoning County 4-H king and queen will be crowned as part of Youth Day at 2 p.m. Thursday on the Concourse Stage.

This year's royal court includes king candidates South Range senior Evan Wehr, 2012 Salem High School graduate Josh Harbin and 2012 Western Reserve graduate Sam Barnhouse.

King candidates

- Evan Wehr, 17, is the son of Larry and Becky Wehr of North Lima. He has been in 4-H for 11 years and is currently a member of the Mill Creek My-T-Mites 4-H Club. He is entering his senior year at South Range High School.

- Josh Harbin, 18, of Salem, is the son of Dan Harbin and Kim Schlegel. He has been in 4-H for 11 years and is currently a member of the Country Kids and Kritters 4-H Club. He will be a freshman at Kent State University this fall.

- Sam Barnhouse, 18, is the son of Bob and Diane Barnhouse of Berlin Center. He has been in 4-H for 14 years and is currently a member of the Ellsworth Jr. Farmers 4-H Club. He will be a freshman at Kent State University this fall.

- Brandon Benson, 18, is the son of Ed and Anngel Benson of Campbell. He has been in 4-H for nine years and is currently a member the Youngstown Clover Crew 4-H Club. He will be a senior in the Virtual Community School in Ohio this fall.

- Brian Wolfe, 18, is the son of Victor and Barb Wolfe of North Jackson. He has been in 4-H for four years and is currently a member of the Horse & Rider 4-H Club. He will be a freshman at The Ohio State University ATI this fall.

Queen candidates

- Michele Awad, 19, is the daughter of Mounir and Linda Awad of Canfield. She has been in 4-H for seven years and is currently a member of the Youngstown Tailwaggers, Barnyard Buddies, Pocket Pets, and Capriculturists 4-H clubs. She will be a sophomore at Youngstown State University this fall.

- Rachelle Fair, 19, is the daughter of Marvin and Moira Fair of Canfield. She has been in 4-H for eight years and is currently a member of the Mahoning Pampered Pups 4-H Club. She will be sophomore at Youngstown State University this fall.

- Samantha Lawless, 17, is the daughter of Dalene and Dale Lawless of New Middletown. She has been in 4-H for seven years and is currently a member of the Rock Solid Riders and Kreative Kids 4-H clubs. She will be a senior at Springfield High School this fall.

- Colleen Maskarinec, 17, is the daughter of Kenneth and Sandra Maskarinec of North Jackson. She has been in 4-H for eight years and is currently a member of the Judge's Choice 4-H Club. She will be a senior at Jackson Milton High School this fall.

- Danielle Yuhas, 17, is the daughter of Paul and Sharon Yuhas of Boardman. She has been in 4-H for 12 years and is currently a member of the Youngstown Tailwaggers and Canfield Bridle Buddies 4-H clubs. She will be a junior at Boardman Local High School this fall.
