Mr. and Mrs. George W. Morris Jr. recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at the Salem Community Center. Guests were in attendance from California, Virginia, Washington State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Ohio. During the week prior to the gathering, the Morrises spent three days at a Pennsylvania Woodlands Resort with their three children and their families.
The former Theresa C. Chick and Mr. Morris were united in the sacrament of matrimony on Aug. 4, 1962, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in East Palestine, the anniversary of the bridegroom's parents, George and Esther Morris. The Rev. Monsignor Joseph M. Heid officiated at the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris are members of St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem and are active in the Pro-Life and Family Ministry, the Banquet of Salem, and the American Heart Association board. They enjoy visiting with their children and grandchildren, traveling, riding their bikes, and reading. They graduated from East Palestine High School where they were high school sweethearts.
Their children and grandchildren are George III (Coby), Zach and Ashtyn Morris of Salem, Doug (Moon), K. Lee and Jesse Morris of Lynnwood (Seattle), Wash., and Denise (Bob), Shelby and Dalton Grimm of Mt. Pleasant (Charleston) S.C.
