Canfield band's last concert of summer

CANFIELD- Conductor Brian Harris and the Canfield Community Concert Band will present their last concert of the 2012 summer season at the Canfield Fair at 2 p.m. Sept. 2 near the Western Reserve Historical Village. The band will perform American marches and selections of popular medleys including the 1950's sounds with "Sock Hop Tonight," and "March to the Movies" featuring "Patton Theme," "Police Academy March" and "Theme from Stripes." The concert will also include "The Magic of Andrew Lloyd Webber." For information about the band visit canfieldccband.com.

NAMI offers 12-week education program

EAST LIVERPOOL- East Liverpool NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Columbiana County Chapter will offer a 12-week education program to reach out to family and friends of those persons suffering with a mental illness (brain disorder). NAMI of Columbiana County has been in existence since 1984 and is sponsored by the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board. Classes begin at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Mary Patternson Building on Fourth Street next to the Carnegie Library. Curriculum will include the major mental illnesses, medications, the biology of the brain, problem solving workshop, communication and empathy workshops, self-care techniques and the rehabilitation and recovery services available in Columbiana County. Elkrun tourism bureau to meet Monday

ELKRUN TOWNSHIP- The Elkrun Township Tourism Bureau will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Township Administration Building.

ELKRUN TOWNSHIP-The Elkrun Township Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 and 18 at the Administration Building on state Route 154.

Salem 1955 to meet for lunch

SALEM- Salem High School Class of 1955 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Adele's Place.

Youth programs set at EP?Library

EAST PALESTINE- The East Palestine Memorial Public Library has announced its youth programs for the fall.

Toddlertime for children ages 2 to 3 years old and their parent or caregiver will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays. Registration is necessary. Programs begin Aug. 27 and end Dec. 3.

Preschool Storytime for children ages 3 to 5 years old will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays. Registration is necessary. Programs begin Aug. 28 and end Dec. 4.

Book Buddies will be held at 4:15 p.m. on Mondays. Children in kindergarten to fourth grade will be paired with older buddies in fifth grade and older to read together. Fun activities and crafts will also be offered. Registration is necessary. Those who are in fifth grade and older who would like to help with the program are also asked to register at the library. Programs begin Sept. 10 and end Dec. 3.

Babytime for children ages 6 months to 2 years old and their parent or caregiver will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the following Wednesday mornings: Sept. 12, Sept. 26, Oct. 10 and Oct. 24. Parents or caregivers can participate in the sharing of books, rhymes and songs with their baby. Registration is necessary.

A Pajama Storytime will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18. Children who attend the program are welcome to wear their pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed animal. The theme of the program is "Grandparents." Registration is now taking place at the library.

Canfield Republican Club to meet

CANFIELD- The Canfield Republican Club will meet for dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 5 at A La Cart Catering on Lisbon Street. U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson will be the guest speaker. Cost is $10. To register call Pat at 330-533-3205.

Alumni night set for Salem marching band

SALEM- The Salem High School Marching Band will hold an alumni night during the Sept. 14 varsity football home game versus Carrollton. All former Salem High School band members are invited to participate. Salvation Army to distribute produce

SALEM- The Salem Salvation Army, 1249 N. Ellsworth Ave., will hold a produce distribution from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 31.
