Potters win title

CRESTON - Blake Prince earned medalist honors by shooting a 73 helping to lead the East Liverpool golf team to th team title at the 5th Annual Wooster Park Mazda Invitational at Nawks Nest.

Prince shot a 74 to lead all of the competitiors.

Also for the Potters, Isaac Davidson shot 74, Joey Cilone contributed a 76 and Alex Watson shot 80.

East Liverpool won the team title with a score of 303. Garaway finished second with 315 and Galion ended up third with 325.

"This is probably the best combined round and score we have had in my four years as coach," East Liverpool head coach Ben Wright said. "We had three of the five lowest scores with Blake, Isaac and Joey."

Ten teams competed at the tournament.

East Liverpool is scheduled to play again Wednesday at home at Turkana in a tri-match against Clay-Battelle and Conotton Valley.

Oak Glen 197, Toronto 220

EAST LIVERPOOL - Matt McLaughlin shot a team-low 43 leading the Oak Glen golf team to a 197-220 victory over Toronto Monday at Turkana Golf Course.

Also for the Golden Bears (1-0), Taylor Kincaid delivered a 47, Haley Spurlock contributed a 51 and Mike Watkins shot 56.

The Red Knights' John Romey earned medalist honors with a 39.

Oak Glen's next match is Wednesday against Weir and Catholic Central at the Steubenville Country Club.

Howland 160, Beaver Local 162

CALCUTTA - Andy Ames earned medalist honors shooting a 38 to lead the Howland golf team to a 160-162 win over Beaver Local Monday at Beaver Creek Meadows.

Hayden Moore led the way for the Beavers with a team-low 39.

Also for Beaver Local, Troy Hudson and Quinton Carr each shot 40, and Emily Blaner recorded a 43.

Beaver Local's next match is set for 9 a.m. today at East Palestine at East Palestine Country Club.

East Palestine 173, Lisbon 214

EAST PALESTINE - D.J. Bandy earned medalist honors shooting a 42 leading the East Palestine golf team to a 173-214 victory Monday over Lisbon at the East Palestine Country Club.

Also for the Bulldogs (1-0), Alec Dumbauld shot 43, and Ryen Kemp and Phil Gerner each finished with 44.

Avery Andric led the way for the Blue Devils (0-1)with a 46. Also for Lisbon, Lucas Tolson shot 55, Jordan Rutecki shot 56 and Logan Kress shoot 57.

Heartland Christian 188, American Spirit Academy 242

EAST LIVERPOOL - Nathan Sommers earned medalist honors shooting a 46 to lead the Heartland Christian golf team to a 188-242 victory over American?Spirit Academy Monday at Cedar Hills Golf Course.

Also for the Lions, Brandon Crawford and Tyler Ogden each delivered a 47, and Christian Sommers shot 48.

Andreww Montgomery tallied a team-best 55 to lead the way for the Warriors.

Also for American Spirit Academy, Noah Timms shot 58, David Fusco finished with a 64 and Lane Lopata added 65.

American Spirit Academy's next match is a tri at 10 a.m. today against Lisbon and Crestview at Twin Springs.
