SALEM - A rummage sale, sponsored by the International Mission Team of the First Christian Church, will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 1350 E. State St.
Proceeds will be used for the March mission trip to the Dominican Republic.

East Palestine High schedules will be ready Aug. 13-15
SALEM - Class schedules for East Palestine High School students will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 13-15 in the guidance office. Obligations from the 2011-12 school year are due at this time as are the class fees for the upcoming year.
An orientation program for incoming freshmen and new students will be held on Aug. 16.
Students with last names that begin with A-K should report to the high school auditorium at 9 a.m. and L-Z should report at 11 a.m. Students will receive their schedule, necessary forms to be completed and tour the building to locate lockers and classrooms.
Make checks payable to East Palestine High School for class fees. Parents are encouraged to attend.

LISBON - Beaver Local Football Boosters is sponsoring a Gowns Galore formal wear sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17 in the Beaver Local High School lunch room. Gently used homecoming and prom dresses will be available for purchase.
Dresses are accepted on consignment with a flat fee of $5 per each dress. Donated formals will also be accepted for the sale.

HANOVERTON - United Local Class of 1961 will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.
Public breakfast buffet will be served at Masonic Building
SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St.
Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2.
The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea.
The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator.
Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.

Columbiana Service Director clarifies pick-up policy
COLUMBIANA - According to Columbiana Service Director Jay Groner, clarification needs made as to what the city crews are prohibited in picking up during the city wide clean up this week.
Items not accepted are TV sets, computer monitors or towers, wet paint, car batteries and any appliances with freon (refrigerators, air conditioners and de-humidifiers). The city will pick up car tires after the trash has been removed.
West Branch offering free preschool for district children

West Branch plans Freshman Orientation Camp on Aug. 24
BELOIT - West Branch High School will conduct a Freshman Orientation Camp from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24.
Students should report to the auditorium upon arrival.
The camp will include: an initial meeting with school personnel, an opportunity to meet some upperclassman, group activities, an opportunity for freshmen to receive their schedule and locker assignment, a practice run of the school day, important information concerning West Branch High School, lunch, prizes, fun, etc.
The parents are invited to attend a parent meeting from 3:30 to 4 p.m. in the auditorium which will cover various topics and address any question they may have. It is highly recommended that all incoming freshmen students attend.

Diabetes educator will present program at Salem Library
SALEM -Diabetes and stress will be the topic of a presentation by Melissa Dwyer, RN, BSN, and diabetes educator at Salem Community Hospital.
The free program begins at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 in the Quaker Room at the Salem Public Library. Registration is required beginning Aug. 13 by stopping in or calling the library at 330-332-0042.
General labor open house planned at Jasar Recycling
EAST PALESTINE - Staff Right Services will be hosting a job fair at Jasar Recycling in East Palestine from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13 to fill general labor positions which are temp-to-hire, full time, paying $8 hourly.
A qualified candidate should be able to lift 70-80 lbs., have steel toe boots, a clean background and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test. Forklift experience preferred but not required.
Applications will be accepted during this time so candidates are encouraged to bring updated resumes and two forms of valid government issued identification.
