DAMASCUS - An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. Aug. 18 at the Damascus United Methodist Church. Proceeds will go to the youth director's fund. The next breakfast is Sept. 15.
Toys For Tots Benefit Ride
EAST PALESTINE - Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. for the second annual Toys For Tots Benefit Ride on Aug. 18 at Big Dog's Bar and Grille. The first bike out is 10 a.m. A free breakfast buffet and free dinner buffet is open to all participants. Cost is $20 per bike/vehicle ($10 with a new toy donation); $5 per passenger (free with a new toy donation). First aid, CPR class
EAST LIVERPOOL - Ohio Valley Home Health Services Inc. will host a first aid and CPR certification class on Aug. 18 and 21 at the Community Education Center at OVHHS, 15679 state Route 170. The CPR portion of the class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. and first aid from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and CPR from 6 to 8 p.m. and first aid from 8 to 10 p.m. Tuesday. The courses may be taken together for the full four hours or separately. The fee for the class is $40 for both CPR and first aid or $20 for a single course.
The first aid and CPR course will be offered monthly to area residents in need of the certification for either professional or personal reasons. Bus seats for casino trip
SALEM- Seats are available for a bus trip to the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh on Aug. 20. Proceeds from this fund raiser, sponsored by the Cutting Edge Styling Salon, will be directed to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Home repair lessons
EAST LIVERPOOL - In the continuing effort to offer meaningful programs to area residents, the Dawson Funeral Home is offering an evening workshop, "Handy Home Repairs: Fix-ups You Can Do Yourself at Home" on Aug. 21. The program will feature local building contractor, Mike DiLoreto of DiLoreto Construction who will address the crowd and answer any questions about minor home repairs and other important tips for the homeowner. A light picnic luncheon will be served to those in attendance and offered to the public at no charge. The program begins at 6 p.m. at Pavilion #1 in Thompson Park in East Liverpool.

Concealed carry class
SALEM - A basic Ohio Concealed Carry class taught by NRA certified instructors begins at 8 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Salem Hunting Club, 549 Indiana Ave.
Successful completion of this class enables students to begin the process of applying for an Ohio concealed carry license. Individuals inexperienced with firearms are strongly encouraged to attend. A range competency certificate can also be issued for individuals meeting the requirements and are seeking to renew their current Ohio CHL's. This will not require attendance for the entire class. Leadership program to oepn
LISBON - The Leadership Columbiana County program promotes the development of leaders throughout Columbiana County while building stronger communities. Individuals meet once a month from September to May to broaden their perspective, enhance leadership skills, and learn to become effective community leaders.

Landlord Education Class
SALEM - A free Landlord Education Class will be offered from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. This class has been specifically developed to provide landlords with information that will assist in establishing and maintaining a successful relationship with tenants. Valuable tips will be provided for rental property owners, managers, real estate agents and others who deal with rental issues.
It is vital that landlords know fair housing regulations and Ohio landlord/tenant law. Additional how-to topics: Advertise for and attract good tenants; Keep good tenants; Take applications and adequately utilize a lease; Keep detailed and Accurate records; and Deal with non-paying tenants.

Hitchcock films to be shown
LEETONIA- The Leetonia Community Public Library will mark the anniversary of filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock's birthday next week with a film festival of his work. The schedule includes "Strangers on a Train" at 1:30 p.m. Monday, "Vertigo" at 6 p.m. Aug. 15 and "North by Northwest" at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 18, with an introduction before the show. The first two films are rated PG, the last has not been rated. There is no cost for attending these films and the public is welcome. Light refreshments will be served and there will be prize drawings at each showing.
