Marilyn “Jo Ann” Mellott

NOOKSACK, Wash. - Private family arrangements were made for Marilyn "Jo Ann" Mellott of Nooksack, Wash., formerly of Salem, Ohio.

Mrs. Mellott passed away July 7, 2012, in Bellingham, Wash.

She was born Marilyn Jo Ann Heed in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of the late Raymond Francis Heed and Mildred Ann Adams Heed.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Lee Broy and her brother, Donald Ray Heed.

"Jo Ann" was a 1947 graduate of Boardman High School and a 1951 graduate of Salem City Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for many years as an RN in Salem, much of which was spent working in the IC unit. She continued as an RN for a short time after moving to Washington before retiring and enjoying her home and gardens.

She will be remembered by her husband of 25 years, Duane E. Mellott of Nooksack, Wash.; two daughters, Connie Lee Fortune of Reno, Nev., and Sandra Jo Fortune Cibula of Salem, Ohio; a son, Ray Allen Fortune of North Benton, Ohio; and grandchildren, Connie Jo Cibula, Erik Alan Cibula, Christina Fortune and a number of cousins, nephews and nieces.

Arrangements were handled by the Sig's Funeral Home.
