SALEM - John Carroll McGuire, 80, of Salem, died at 8 a.m. Thursday at his home.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1931 in Salem, a son of the late John and Erla K. (Beck) McGuire. He lived in the Salem area all his life.
He was a molder with Horizon Castings of Columbiana for 33 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Salem and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and anything outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Norita Ann (Barnes) McGuire whom he married April 23, 1953. He is also survived by two daughters, Margaret Lynn McGuire of Twinsburg, Rebecca Louise (Charles) McGuire-Smith of Salem; two sons, James Carroll (Ginger) McGuire and Jeffrey Carl McGuire, both of Salem.
He is also survived by a sister, Erla Mae Emelo of Monroeville, Ala., and a brother Donald Keith of Salem; twelve grandchildren; Angelina Carl, Jesse McGuire, Jordan McGuire, Matthew Smith, Alexis Smith and Sarah Smith, all of Salem, Andrew McGuire of East Palestine, Jacob McGuire and Richard Haynes of Sebring, Katlyn Haynes of Alliance, Bryan Mays of Twinsburg, Brittany Smith of Brimfield; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Devon McGuire of Salem.
He was preceded in death by a son Michael Allen McGuire; six sisters, Betty Jane Adams, Louise Heddleston, Vernetta Nell Kastanek, Hazel Geneva Ludt, Alice Joan Cope and Beatrice McGuire; a brother Ralph Beck McGuire; and a granddaughter Jessica McGuire.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral Home with Pastor Leonard Moore officiating.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
