Faith Chapel adjusts service schedule

SALEM - Faith Chapel Fellowship will be holding its regular worship service at 9:30 a.m. instead of 11 a.m. Sunday to accommodate the Salem Super Cruise.

There will be no Sunday School this week.

Faith Chapel is located at 511 E. Pershing St. in Salem. For any additional information call 330-332-8573.

Friends of the Banquet sponsoring event

SALEM - Friends of the Banquet is sponsoring the Banquet of Salem being served at 7 p.m. Monday at the Salem Memorial Building.

The menu will include meat loaf, homemade macaroni and cheese, green beans, applesauce, fresh veggies, fruit and icecream sundaes. Groups or individuals wishing to sponsor the Banquet are asked to call 330-831-2169.

Worship in the Park scheduled at park

SALEM - The First United Methodist Church of Salem will host Worship in the Park at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Waterworth Memorial Park band shell.

Those attending should bring a lawn chair. All are invited to attend - don't forget your lawn chair.

Services for those who cannot or do not wish to attend the service in the park will be held in the chapel at the church on South Broadway Avenue at 8:30 a.m.

Joint worship service is Sunday

NORTH GEORGETOWN - Emmanuel Lutheran Church and First Brethren Church of North Georgetown will hold a joint worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Emmanuel Lutheran, 27485 Main St., North Georgetown, will host the service.

Both churches conducted a combined vacation Bible school this past week for children from the community. The theme of the Bible school was "Sonrise National Park" for children.

Co-directors were Verna Kay Ziegler and Norma Waters. In addition to Bible lessons, crafts, and learning activities, the children presented offerings for mosquito nets for malaria abatement in Africa and nonperishable food for Acts 2 Ministries locally.

The joint service will include a celebration of the Bible school and will include presentations by the children who participated. Pastors Carolyn Wagar Hier and Ronald W. Waters will also participate.

Because of the joint service, there will be no activities at First Brethren Church this Sunday.

The community is invited to attend.

Big Back Yard begins Wednesday

SALEM - First Presbyterian Church of Salem will begin its Big Back Yard program Wednesday, June 27 on the west lawn of the church at 436 East Second St.

The theme for the night is "Take Me Out to the Ballpark." There will be free food and fun related to baseball.

The Big Back Yard meets from 6-8 p.m. June 27 to Aug. 15, rain or shine, every Wednesday except July 4.

Other themes planned for the summer include "Camp Out," an evening with the Scouts, Olympics, Art in the Park, movie night and backyard carnival.

The Big Back Yard is open to the public.

'SonRise National Park' Bible school set

LISBON - Harvest Baptist Church is inviting children in the Lisbon area to participate in a vacation Bible school called "SonRise National Park."

The school will be held from 9 a.m.-noon each day from June 25-29 at Harvest Baptist Church. For information call 330-337-1373. 'We're ready for a vacation Bible school your children will never forget," said Pastor Ron Laughlin of Harvest Baptist Church.

"At SonRise National Park your kids will be pointed right to Jesus! Children will have a great time singing songs, watching skits, creating crafts and playing games. But most important, they'll discover Jesus provides what they truly need in every challenge of life. We're looking forward to sharing this exciting event with the children and families in our neighborhood. We hope they will all join us at SonRise National Park."

Breakfast buffet will be served June 30

NORTH LIMA - A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7-10 a.m. Saturday, June 30 at the North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, North Lima.

Items served will include eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and onions, coffee, orange juice and other beverages. Donations will be accepted. For information, call the church at 330-549-2333.

Community banquet will be held

LISBON - Volunteers of St. George Catholic Church will host a community banquet.

It will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the New Presbyterian Church, Market Street, Lisbon.

The menu will include chicken breast, noodles, green beans, dinner rolls, cole slaw, ice cream, cookies and beverages.

The banquet is free and open to the public.
