Nick and Rosemary Martens of 1308 Westview Drive, Salem, were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception at their home. Friends and family were invited from 4 to 8 p.m. May 5.
The festivities were hosted by their children and spouses, Linda Martens, Deborah and Tom Markovitch, Lisa and Steve Flood of Columbus, and Steven Martens of Denver, Colo. The couple also has six grandchildren.
The former Rosemary Kosec and Nikolaus Martens were married on May 5, 1962, by the Rev. Father John Daum at St. Bernard Church in Akron.
Mr. Martens was employed by E. W. Bliss for 11 years and retired from General Motors Lordstown with over 32 years.
Mrs. Martens was formerly employed by Hansell's in Salem for over 13 years.
They are members of St. Paul Church.
Mrs. Martens is the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Kosec of Maple Heights, and Mr. Martens is the son of the late Nikolaus and Maria Martens of Salem.
