PERRY TWP. - A North Ridgeville man was injured and a Georgia man was cited for failure to yield after a two-vehicle accident Monday at the intersection of the U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 bypass and state Route 14.

Charles R. Wortham, of Newman, Ga., was driving a semi truck south on the bypass and allegedly failed to see the traffic light at the intersection, colliding with a pickup driven by Kenneth Nelson, of North Ridgeville, at 1:42 p.m. Monday.

Nelson was transported to Salem Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries, while Wortham was given a citation. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene.

Perry Township Police Chief Mike Emigh and Perry Township firefighters responded and handled the accident. The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Salem Police also responded to assist, with the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office also on the scene.
