SALEM - A Salem woman hospitalized since falling out of a vehicle at an apartment complex on Lexington Avenue a week ago has died.
Kristina M. Bradway, 30, of 2553 Lexington Ave., was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital, according to Det. Dave Talbert of the Salem Police Department.
Talbert said he met with an investigator from the Mahoning County Coroner's Office Thursday and was waiting for a preliminary report from them for the continuing investigation into what happened.
When the incident occurred, police Chief Bob Floor said that according to initial reports, she may have been intoxicated and fooling around when she fell out of the vehicle. She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Cletis Ray Curtis Monroy, 28, of Taylor Avenue, Salem.
Police were notified about a female with serious injuries at 1:55 a.m. March 29 by Salem Community Hospital emergency department personnel. She was taken by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital and had been in critical condition.
"At this point, we have no reason to believe that anything different occurred," Talbert said.
He explained they received surveillance video of the time leading up to when the incident occurred and after it happened and also gathered evidence at the scene. He said everyone was being cooperative and the evidence supports what the driver told police about the incident.
"We're trying to ensure that nothing other than an accident took place," Talbert said.
Friends of the victim recently held a prayer rally on her behalf on Sunday, with a dinner announced for April 14 at the Side Door for her benefit and the benefit of her 3-year-old daughter.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
