Salem vs. Alliance

SALEM - The Salem track squads breezed past Alliance Tuesday at Reilly Stadium. The boys won 73-55 while the girls triumphed 82-46.

Trent Kenreigh tallied a 21-8 long jump to win the event by nearly three feet. Anthony Shivers tossed the discus 165-2 also winning the event.

Mallory Maher won both the 1600 (5:45.4) and the 3200 (13:14.4). Jocelynne Samu cleared 5-feet on the high jump.

The Salem boys will be back in action Thursday at the F.E. Cope Invitational at Reilly Stadium. Both squads will resume NBC competition Tuesday in Carrollton.

BELOIT - The West Branch boys and girls track teams defeated Canton South Tuesday in Beloit. The boys won 80-48 while the girls won 67-61.

Drake Lohnes won the 800, 1600 and 3200 to help pace the Warriors.

Both squads are back in action Tuesday at Allliance.

EAST PALESTINE - East Palestine defeated Leetonia and Wellsville in both boys and girls track and field action Tuesday. On the boys' side, East Palestine scored 83 to Wellsville's 60 adn Leetonia's 19. For the girls, East Palestine tallied 77 to Wellsville's 46 and Leetonia's 29.

Salem 8, West Branch 7

BELOIT - The Salem Lady Quakers rallied for seven runs with two outs in the top of the seventh and held on for an 8-7 win Tuesday at West Branch.

The Quakers were led by Morgan Crosser who went 4-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Tyler Schrader added three hits and an RBI.

Kailyn Wood had a double and three RBIs, and Hannah Carner picked up the win.

For West Branch, Bailey McElwain had two hits including a triple and two RBIs. Reagan Rito was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, and Mallory Hughes had two hits including a double.

Salem (2-6, 2-1 NBC) hosts Louisville Thursday.

West Branch (3-4, 2-1 NBC) hosts Canton South.

LOWELLVILLE - Western Reserve completed the season sweep of Lowellville with a 20-1 drubbing Tuesday.

Sissy Stubbs homered, doubled twice, scored three times and drove in six runs for Reserve.

Hope Johnson doubled twice, drove in three and scored three runs. Alexis Lude added two singles and two RBIs.

Stubbs also got the win on the hill striking out seven.

Western Reserve (7-0, 4-0 ITCL Tier 2) takes on Howland and Warren Harding Saturday at Western Reserve High School.

SALEM - The Salem Quakers fell just short in their bid for the year's first win falling 6-5 to Marlington Tuesday. Salem scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to force extras or win the contest.

Leading Salem was Brendan Webb with two hits and a run scored. Seth Leininger, Keaton O'Brien, Jake Carner, Zach Economous and Alex Brant all hit safely.

Salem (0-5, 0-3 NBC) travels to Marlington (2-2, 1-2 NBC) Thursday.

Salem's Mitchell Maroscher defeated 3-time NBC player of the year Alex Schaeffer 6-2, 6-3.

Salem (1-3, 1-0 NBC) will play Thursday at Canton South.
