Salem News

LISBON - An East Liverpool man received probation on a domestic violence charge last week in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

Daniel M. Duke, 20, of Smithfield Street, was sentenced by Judge Scott Washam to two years' probation after previously pleading guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence, which had been dropped from a felony because it was a second offense. He received credit for 11 days spent in the county jail.

Duke was accused of grabbing, biting and striking the mother of his child in April 2011.

In other court action, Charles L. Fisher, 30, of Toronto, was sentenced by Judge Washam to 30 days in the county jail, with mandatory credit for five days already served, after pleading guilty to receiving stolen property. Fisher was accused of possessing a tow boat and steel stolen from William Price, River Road, East Liverpool, last June.

Virgil W. Boggess, 60, Ohio Avenue, East Liverpool, is scheduled to be sentenced on May 31 after pleading guilty to cocaine possession. Boggess was found with cocaine last April.
