COLUMBIANA-Ruthanne "Bear" Garver of Columbiana, Ohio, entered eternal rest at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at home surrounded by her family, following an extended illness. She was 77.
Ruthanne was born on May 22, 1934, a daughter to William Clyde and Helen (Langley) Gordon in Youngstown, Ohio.
A 1952 graduate of Struthers High School, she went on to further her education later in life at the Hannah E. Mullins School of Nursing, Salem, Ohio, where she graduated in 1970 at the top of her class as a licensed practical nurse.
She married the love of her life, William R. "Bill" Garver, on Nov. 22, 1953, and together they raised five children.
Mrs. Garver was proud to be a nurse and she retired from Salem Community Hospital after 22 years of service. She also worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown.
She had an interest with the Red Hat Society and at one time was active with the VFW, Springfield. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, gardening, traveling, going to Jamboree in the Hills, and being known as a computer nut. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and being involved with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bill; her son, Donnie J. Garver and his companion, Tammy Blankenship, Salem , Ohio; her daughters, H. Lynn Beadnell and her husband Ray, Salineville, Ohio, Grace A. Garver, Willoughby, Ohio, Sandy L. Garver, Leetonia, Ohio, and Becky J. Rance and her husband Brad, Leetonia, Ohio; her brother, Clyde F. Gordon, Struthers, Ohio; her 11 grandchildren, Jason, Amy, Matt, Dustin, Ryan, Gail, Tiffany, Jenni, Stephanie, Logan and Sierra; and her six great-grandchildren, Anna, Branden, Jonathan, Rhemee, Matt Jr. and Emmalynne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her sister, Marian "Bonnie" Keeler.
A Celebration of Life service in honor of Ruthanne will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012, at 4 p.m., in the Beaver Creek State Park, the Log Cabin Chapel of Pioneer Village, near Gaston's Mill, East Liverpool, Ohio, by the Rev. Gary Bailey. Family and friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. at the park.As an expression of sympathy, her family requests that material contributions may be made to the Beaver Creek Wildlife Center, 12021 Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, Ohio 43902, in her memory.
