Christina Marie Brown and Joseph Shylo Carnes are engaged and planning a spring wedding. She is the daughter of James and Paula Brown of Parma. His parents are Louis and Jackie Horvath of Lisbon and Nathan Carnes of East Rochester.
The bride-elect graduated from Kent State University with a degree in early childhood education. She is currently employed by Columbiana County Head Start.
The prospective bridegroom is employed by National Heat Exchange. He graduated from ETI Technical College with a degree in electronic engineering.

The couple's private wedding ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. May 12 at Boardman Park Gazebo in Boardman.
Invitations will be issued for the reception at the Salem Saxon Club.
