St. Thomas Aquinas 45, West Branch 42

LOUISVILLE - West Branch couldn't capitalize on chances at the free throw line late in the game and the Knights of St. Thomas Aquinas held on for a 45-42 victory.

Connor Duplain had 14 for St. Thomas. Adam Piciachia added 11.

For West Branch, Scott Muckleroy had 13 points, and Matt Latham had eight points, six blocks, five assists and five rebounds.

St. Thomas also won the jayvee contest 54-35. Lucas Austin had nine points for the Warriors.

West Branch (9-8, 6-7 NBC) resumes action Friday at Marlington.

Western Reserve 52, Lordstown 42

LORDSTOWN - Western Reserve bounced back from last week's loss to Jackson-Milton with a 52-42 win over Lordstown.

Leading the Blue Devils was Tom Benyo with 16 points and eight rebounds. Payton Snyder added 16 points and seven rebounds, and Jeff Clegg added 14 points.

Kyle Johnson had 15 for Lordstown.

Western Reserve (11-8, 7-7 ITCL Tier 2) hosts Springfield Friday.

CANFIELD - All five South Range seniors hit double digits on senior night to lead the Raiders past Leetonia 89-70.

Leading the way was Dan Good with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Brandon Pluchinsky added 21 points. Isaac Shuster added 14, and Zac Czopur and Jordan Baker had 11 points each.

For Leetonia, Cody Stokes led with 22 points. Ian Sevenich added 17, and Cody Valentine had 10.

South Range won the jayvee game 52-28. Leading the Raiders was Jake Arsuffi with 17.

South Range (16-3, 12-2 ITCL Tier 1) will play at West Branch Feb. 24.

EAST PALESTINE - Lowellville came up with 22 points in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough top overtake the East Palestine Bulldogs who held on for a 52-50 victory at home on Tuesday.

Austen Reiser led the Bulldogs with 15 points. Cody Stewart added 10 points and seven rebounds. Jake DiCello had eight points and six assists. Zak Brockman grabbed six boards and scored six points.

For Lowellville, Carmen Donofrio tied Reiser for the game high. David Wilaj chipped in 13.

Lowellville fell to 9-11.

The jayvee Bulldogs dropped a 43-36 decision despite 12 points apiece from Billy Bibby and Steve Parker.

East Palestine (9-8, 7-6 ITCL Tier 1) plays at Heartland on Saturday.

COLUMBIANA - Columbiana picked up its second win of the year dropping Southington Chalker 68-61.

Leading the Clippers was Jake DeJong with a game-high 25 points.

Kyle Bryan added 11.

Nate Hancovsky had 17 for Chalker.

Columbiana (2-18, 1-13 ITCL Tier 1) begins tournament play Feb. 27 against East Palestine in Salem.

BERLIN CENTER - The Western Reserve girls honored senior Colleen Kennehan for reaching 1,000 points for her career in a 64-58 win over Lake Center.

Kennehan added 21 more points to her career total and also tallied 12 assists and four steals.

Hannah Mowery contributed 17 points and four rebounds, while Linley Mamonis had six points and six boards.

Western Reserve finishes their third straight regular season at 17-3 and opens tournament play against Mineral Ridge 4 p.m. Saturday at South Range High School.
