MINERVA - Salem's Northeastern Buckeye Conference woes continued Friday at Minerva where despite hanging close to the Lions the entire way, the Quakers were unable to avoid the season sweep falling 67-64.

Salem trailed by five after one quarter but trailed by just a point at half and going into the final frame.

But everything Salem did Minerva matched to hang on for the victory.

The loss keeps Salem in the bottom of the conference at 2-8 and 5-9 overall.

For the Quakers, Trent Kenreigh had a solid night posting a team-high 24 points. Ryan Bush added 12 points, and Anthony Shivers had 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

Zach Ecomomous also hit a pair of 3-pointers.

For the Lions, Eli Maurer had a game-high 25 points and added six rebounds. Jacob Eberling tacked on 14 points, and Jantzen Locke added 12.

Salem won the jayvee affair 31-29.

Up next for the Quakers is a make-up contest at Liberty Wednesday.
