Winning entries progress from local (school) to district (county) and state levels of competition, national and finally to the international level. The winning entries at the international level will be used for a series of anti substance abuse posters. Creative credit is given to the young artists. The posters are distributed throughout the countries in which the Knights of Columbus has a presence.
This year 28 local student winners were judged at the CCESC by health educators, police, DARE officers and art teachers who donated their time.
Guest speaker will be Honorable Judge Carol Robb.
Awards, trophies and certificates will be presented to the four student winners, and all students will receive certificates of participation at the local and county level contests.
The program has had over 5,000 students participate since its inception.
This contest serves as a model for other county and state programs. The Knights of Columbus along with the Columbiana County Educational Service Center hope to reach all the 4,500 children between the ages of 8-14 and implement or develop programs in our county for 1418 year olds.
