Marie A. Young and Joseph Michael Smaltz were united in marriage on Aug. 6 at Our Lady of Lakes Church in North Jackson.
Father David Merzweilzer officiated at the 2:30 p.m. ceremony.
Nuptial music was provided by Lenny Suvelis and Frank and Elaine Barney with special guests from Jacksonville, N.C.
The bride is the daughter of Lucy Young of 5349 Pricetown Road, Berlin Center, and the late Urban "Bud" Young.
The bridegroom is the son of Patricia Smaltz Thomas of 521 Powers Ave., Girard, and and the late Robert Smaltz and Warner Thomas.
Escorted and given in marriage by her mother, the bride appeared in an aline lace gown with beaded embroidery and an empire waist. She carried a bouquet of calla lilies with one red rose in the center in memory of her father.
Tami Calko of Canfield, the bride's cousin, was the matron of honor
Bridesmaids were Laura Young of Massillon and Jordan Young of Berlin Center, the bride's nieces.
The attendant wore purple dresses and carried calla lilies with lime green streamers.
Robert Smaltz of Twinsburg, the bridegroom's brother, was the best man.
Ushers were Zachary Young of Cleveland, the bride's nephew; Michael Young of Berlin Center and Martin Young of North Olmsted, the bride's brothers; and Ethan Morrison of Canfield.
Approximately 200 guests attended the reception at the Mahoning Country Club in Girard.
The bride graduated from Western Reserve High School and attended Mahoning County Joint Vocational School. She is employed as a nanny.
The bridegroom is employed at Voith Industrial in Lordstown. He graduated from Girard High School.
The couple honeymooned in Disney World. They reside at 5349 Pricetown Road, Berlin Center.
Special guests included Father David Mulqueen of Ashtabula, Emily Hendrickson and Gayle Zanetti of Gwinn, Mich., Beverly Ewashko of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. Kent Upton.
