SALEM - The A.S. Fricano & Co., CPAs, and Daniel D. Wolfe, CPA, announced the merger of their firms.
The action was effective Oct. 1, and the existing firm will operate as Byler, Wolfe, Lutsch, and Kampfer CPAs, Inc.
The Salem office will remain at 360 East State St. while combining with Wolfe's East Liverpool office at 49020 Ashland Place.
The merger enables each company to continue providing client service, while allowing room for growth and expansion, the company said.
There are 13 employees between the two offices with six CPAs and seven support staff.
Eugene Byler, president of the firm, said, "With the impending retirement of Alfred Fricano, we were looking for a new partner to add to our East Liverpool location.
"With Daniel's (Wolfe) knowledge and experience, as well as his previous relationship with our firm, we knew he was the right choice."
He said merger has been worked on for about two years.
"There were other things in place that prevented the name change and we thought it was time," Byler, who joined the A.S. Fricano & Co. company in 1984, said.
He added that many people were not aware that he and Richard Lutsch, who joined the company in 1988, have been the major shareholders since 1991.
Byler said Wolfe also worked for Fricano, left to work in private industry before returning to public accounting.
Overseeing the East Liverpool office are Denny Kampfer, CPA, Wolfe, CPA, and Fricano, CPA/CVA.
Kampfer joined the firm in 1989 after earning a bachelor's degree in business administration from Youngstown State University.

A graduate of Robert Morris University, Wolfe has 22 years in public accounting and 16 years in private manufacturing accounting, specializing in tax, manufacturing, business management/planning, and personal financial planning.
He also has experience with crisis management cases and bankruptcy court reporting.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Wolfe is active in the community, serving on the boards of several local civic organizations.
