Western Reserve 49, Wellsville 7
BERLIN CENTER - Western Reserve remained undefeated with a 49-7 victory in Berlin Center Friday.
The Blue Devils ran for 205 and threw for 162 to rack up 162 yards of total offense to the Tigers' 177.
Donnie Bolton led on the ground with 131 rushing on 14 carries and two scores. Bolton is over 1,500 yards on the season already with 1,592.
Jeff Clegg was 12-of-17 for 147 passing and two scores. Thomas Benyo led all receivers with 91 yards and a touchdown. He also returned a interception and the second-half kickoff for scores. Clegg added a 29-yard field goal, and Tommy Marlowe had a 10-yard scoring reception.
Western Reserve (8-0, 5-0 ITCL Tier 2) hosts Jackson-Milton Friday.
Wellsville (3-5, 2-3 ITCL Tier 2) hosts Leetonia.
West Branch 30, Louisville 21
BELOIT - West Branch raced out to a 24-7 halftime lead and held on for a 30-21 win over Louisville, snapping a 12-game losing streak to the Leopards.
West Branch's defense came up big with four interceptions (Chris Conrad, Mike Estock, Kenny Faulkner, Jalen Shelton) and two sacks (Evan Park, Brenden Wells).
For the Warrior offense, Brenden Wells again led the way with 168 yards on 41 carries and three touchdowns, marking his sixth straight game with over 100 yards rushing.
Troy James was an efficient 6-of-11 for 58 yards finding Scott Muckleroy four times for 39 yards. James added a touchdown plunge of his own to put the game away in the final frame.
For Louisville, Lucas Poyser had 133 yards on 22 carries and three touchdowns. Joey Duckworth struggled under center going 15-of-27 for 134 yards but with four picks.
West Branch (4-4, 3-2 NBC) hosts Marlington next week.
Louisville (4-4, 3-2 NBC) entertains Salem.
Southern 28, Leetonia 25
SALINEVILLE - Southern survived a scare from Leetonia Friday night but the Indians' defense stepped up in the second half keeping the Bears scoreless in the final 24 minutes for a 28-25 win.
Southern's Zack Puckett scored from six yards out in the third quarter in what would be the final score of the game. Puckett ran for an outstanding 273 yards on 37 carries.
Luke Griffith was 14-of-28 for 185 yards passing with two touchdowns.
For Leetonia, R.J. Pacella had an 80-yard touchdown run. Cody Stokes was 7-of-21 for 76 yards and a touchdown to Alex Maltbie from 29-yards out. Stokes also ran for 41 yards on 11 carries including a score. Trent Ferry picked off a pass and returned it 27 yards for a score.
Southern (7-1, 4-1 ITCL Tier 2) travels to Lowellville Friday.
Leetonia (3-5, 1-4 ITCL Tier 2) travels to Wellsville.
Columbiana 37, United 7
HANOVERTON - After exchanging touchdowns in the first and second quarters, Columbiana put away United, 37-7, with three unanswered scores in the second half Friday night in Hanoverton.
The Clippers outran the Eagles 391 to 47. Austin Barbato registered 197 and Brandon Hacker came up with 123. Barrato also scored two rushing TDs. He ran in from 35 and 19-yards out. Hacker had a 10-yard scoring run, and Jacob Theil returned a fumble 7 yards for a score.
Garrett Beech scored the lone Eagle touchdown when he returned a fumble 100 yards.
South Range 35, Lisbon 8
LISBON - South Range used a balanced rushing attack to defeat Lisbon 35-8 Friday. For the Raiders, Alex Dickey had 92 yards on 12 carries and a score. Joey Phillips had 96 yards on 11 carries with a score. Ross Stoffer had a rushing touchdown and also threw one to Dan Good going 4-of-11 for 57 yards, and Billy Goodall had a 34-yard touchdown run.
For Lisbon, Zac Barnes had 71 yards on 14 carries. Danny Reese scored the team's lone touchdown on a 2-yard run in the third quarter.
South Range (4-4, 3-2 ITCL Tier 1) hosts Crestview Friday.
Lisbon (1-7, 0-5 ITCL Tier 1) travels to East Palestine.
