Music in the Park to return in Leetonia

May 12, 2011
By KEVIN HOWELL , Salem News

LEETONIA- Music in the Park is returning to the village this summer.

The Parks Board with the Leetonia-Washingtonville Chamber of Commerce will once again present the monthly concerts at Wick Park.

The concerts will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month beginning May 17 and running through September.

All concerts are free to the public.

This month will feature Loren Coler, "The Singing Senior Citizen," performing music from the 1950s. The following concerts will also feature Coler along with his guest performers.

According to Councilwoman Shana Prince, Parks Board liaison, the program has been available for several years, although not on an annual basis.

She said the concerts provide a way for families and community members to spend time together.

"It's a really nice community event, a good way to gather on a nice summer evening," she explained.

The Parks Board and Artisans Committee are still in need of volunteers to help organize events such as Music in the Park.

The groups meet at 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at Village Hall.

For information about Music in the Park or serving on either committee call Village Hall at 330-427-6721 or Prince at 330-259-7918.
