SALEM-Lucille Martin was honored at a surprise 90th birthday celebration on March 27 at her home. She was born March 29, 1921, to George and Helen Holroyd in East Liverpool, and moved to Salem during her childhood. She attended Salem City Schools and graduated in 1938 from Salem High School. In 1952, she married Gene Martin, who passed away in 1982.
Mrs. Martin worked a number of years as an admitting clerk at Salem Central Clinic and also at Alliance Community Hospital, until her retirement in 1986. Still very young at heart, she has remained active by spending time with family and friends, reading, and church activities.
Mrs. Martin has two children, Pam Martin of Alliance and Dee (Dennis) Bauman of Minerva, as well as two granddaughters, Laura and Katie Bauman, also of Minerva.
She is sister to the late Bud Holroyd, Sara Gurlea and Doris Primm.
