Oris E. Beight

YOUNGSTOWN-Oris E. Beight, 73, of Lynn Avenue, Youngstown, died following heart failure at 11:46 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Born May 30, 1937 in Youngstown, he was the son of Fred and Daisy (Burkey) Beight.

Mr. Beight retired from the United Steel Service of Brookfield in 2002. Prior to that he had worked at Allegheny Steel of Youngstown, and at the Carbon Limestone Co. of Lowellville for 40 years as a dragline operator. He was a very active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. He had also been a member of the Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 24 years.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. (Fry) Beight, whom he married June 14, 1958; a son, Timothy (Bobbie) Beight of Amherst; two daughters, Cathryn Bowell of Youngstown and Cammy (David) Garland of Canfield; two sisters, LaVerne (William) Oldfield of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Christine Conrad, of Peoria, Ariz.; a brother, Fred (Shirley) Beight Jr., of New Middletown; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Calvary United Methodist Church with Pastor Renae Meggitt officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in North Lima, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Material contributions may be made to the building fund of the Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. North Lima, Ohio 44452.
