Mr. and Mrs. Denis Karlen of 11676 Seacrist Road, Salem, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 18 with a family dinner party at DeRienzo's Restaurant.
The former Barbara Close and Mr. Karlen were married at the Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church in Homeworth by the Rev. Robert Swanson.
The couple's children and spouses are Denise (Dale) Elder, Diane (Lester) Baringer and Debra (Greg) Birkheimer.
The Karlens also have seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Mr. and Mrs. Karlen are self-employed dairy farmers. They are members of the Bunker Hill Church.
Mr. Karlen is also a member of the Mahoning County Farm Bureau and the Ohio Holstein Association.
Mrs. Karlen enjoys reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
