George and Betty Stoudt of Oberlin recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

The former Betty Bates and Mr. Stoudt were married on April 28, 1945, at The Church of the Redeemer in Lorain.

Mr. Stoudt, a former Salem resident, is a 1943 graduate of Salem High School and a Navy veteran. He was employed for 34 years as a mechanical engineer for Bendix Westinghouse Automotive Airbrakes in Elyria, before moving on to Nordson Corporation in Amherst, retiring in 1987.

Mrs. Stoudt was a stay-at-home mother. After her husband retired, she did volunteer work at Allen Memorial Hospital.

The family also celebrated George's 85th birthday on April 10 and Betty's 90th birthday on July 19. On July 3, four generations of the Stoudt family held a celebration at the home of their oldest grandchild, Shannon Miller of LaGrange.

The Stoudts have two daughters Leslie Curtis of Oberlin and Judy Connolly of Boiling Springs, S.C., a son, Cliff Stoudt of Dublin, and 10 grandchildren, Shannon Miller, Scott Nichols of Lorain, Meredith Kaminicki of Hilliard, Courtney Nichols and Bradley Nichols of Oberlin, Kimberly Moore of Blacklick, Cydnei Stoudt of Wilmington, N.C., Zackary Stoudt and Cole Stoudt of Dublin, and Taylor Connolly of Boiling Springs.

They also have 17 great-grandchildren, ages 2 through 16, all residing in Ohio. After the deaths of Mrs. Stoudt's sister Reita and her husband Robert, the Stoudts became guardians for their children, Greg Grude of Wakeman, and Connie Hankes of Braintree, Mass., and Kathy Pease of Dola.

Mr. and Mrs. Stoudt enjoy attending the sporting events of their great-grandchildren, going out to dinner once a week, and hosting holiday celebrations at their home.
