Mr. and Mrs. Walter Savage celebrate 40th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fredrick Savage of 400 W. Main St., Washingtonville, were honored on the occasion of their 40th wedding anniversary at a surprise reception. The festivities were hosted by their children from 2 to 9 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5532. The couple's children and spouses are Walter Scott Savage (Andrea) of Leetonia, Laura Michele Savage of Cleveland and David Kurt Savage of Salem. Also joining in the celebration were their two grandchildren, Emily and Garrett Savage.

Mr. Savage retired in 2005 from Crane Deming in Salem following 30 years of service. For over 20 years he served as fire chief of Washingtonville Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on Washingtonville Council and is a member of Leetonia Sportmans Club.

Mrs. Savage is employed as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She is a 1996 graduate of Kent State University School of Nursing with honors, a former volunteer for Angels for Animals, and a recipient of the "Spirit of Caring Award" for nurses from St. Elizabeth Hospital where she has been employed for 11 years.
