Alison Shaffer and Jason Thompson were united in marriage on Oct. 10 at the First Christian Church in Salem.
The bride is the daughter of Bob and LeAnn Albright of 6501 State Route 9, Hanoverton, and the late Daniel Shaffer. The bridegroom's parents are Jack and Brenda Thompson of 1981 Southeast Blvd., Salem.
Pastor Bill Lawson officiated at the couple's double-ring ceremony. Nuptial music was provided by Jacci Samu at the organ.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Her A-line ivory taffeta gown was enhanced with a sweetheart neckline and embellished with flower appliques. The fingertip-length veil was accented with crystal flowers. She carried a bouquet of daisies and greenery that contained two orange Gerber daisies in remembrance of her deceased father, Daniel Shaffer, and the bridegroom's deceased brother, Tom Thompson.
Pinned under her gown was a blue handkerchief that she received from the bridegroom's mother. The handkerchief was made from the dress worn by the late Mary Painter, Brenda Thompson's mother, at her wedding in 1972.
Colby Ray of Salem was the maid of honor.
Bridal attendants included Maggie Sell and Rachel Sell, both of Hanoverton, the bride's sisters; Becky Hibner of Salem, Ore., and Sarah Conklin of Wellington.
Flower girls were Kyleigh and Kendyl Doggy of Hanoverton.
Nick Thompson of Akron, the bridegroom's brother, was the best man.
Ushers were Dan Shaffer of Hanoverton, the bride's brother; Tommy Halko of Norwalk; Jared Bibbee of Virginia; and Ryan Fulton of Hubbard.
Approximately 285 guests attended the reception at the Tall Oaks Banquet Center in Sebring. Ben Sell, the bride's brother, presided at the guest book.
The rehearsal dinner was held at The Center in Salem the night before the wedding. The bridegroom's parents also surprised the couple and wedding party with a trolley ride around town in the Salem Historical Society's trolley.
The bride is a 2008 graduate of Youngstown State University. She is a fourth and fifth-grade intervention specialist at Knox Elementary.
The bridegroom is a May 2010 graduate of YSU where he earned a bachelor's of science degree in education. He is currently employed as a JV boys basketball coach at Crestview.
A special guest at the ceremony was Justin Albright, the bride's brother, who is home after serving in Iraq.
The couple resides in Hanoverton.
