Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sheldon of Louisville, Ky., are announcing the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Emily Sheldon, to James "J.R." Shaw, both of Lakewood, Colo. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Massey Jr. and Robert Lee Shaw Jr., all of New Waterford.
The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of the University of New Mexico with a bachelor's degree in technical writing. She is employed by Boeing.
Mr. Shaw, a 1996 graduate of East Palestine High School, is employed by T-Mobile as a sales manager and also owns and operates Updog Recording and Sound.
The couple is planning a wedding ceremony on Oct. 22 at the Playacar Palace in Playa del Carmen Mexico.
