The Ekklesia Church in Canton was the setting for the private afternoon wedding ceremony for Christy Bennett and Chris Dewar. The bride is the daughter of Nancy Bennett of Salem and the late James Bennett. The bridegroom's parents are John and Diane Dewar of Clinton.

The Rev. James Ferguson officiated at the couple's candlelit double-ring ceremony on Feb. 23. Natalie Spheare provided cello music for the affair and the bride's niece, Camrin Costal, played a piano selection. The bride's sister, Holly Heighton of Warsaw, N.C., was the matron of honor. Her niece, Kacey Costal of Salem served as a junior bridesmaid. The bridegroom's brother, Andrew Dewar of Clinton, was the best man. The bride's nephew Kyle Costal served as an usher.

A family dinner was held at Mulligan's Restaurant and Pub following the ceremony. The couple plans to host a casual reception for family and friends in May at Sippo Lake.

The bride is a 2000 graduate of Salem High School and earned a Pharm.D. from Ohio Northern University in 2006. She is currently employed as a pharmacist and board certified pharmacotherapy specialist for Aultman Hospital.

The bridegroom graduated in 2002 from Manchester High School and received a bachelor's of arts degree in Bible and theology from Malone College in 2006. He currently serves as the associate pastor of Ekklesia Church and is also employed by FedEx Freight in Uniontown.

After a honeymoon in Belize, the newlyweds returned to the states and reside in their Canton home.
