Mark James Poffenberger

SALEM -Mark James Poffenberger, 52, of Beloit died Sunday night in the emergency room of Salem Community Hospital after taking suddenly ill at home.

He was born on March 28, 1957 in Allegheny County, Pa., to James and Lois (Kirkland) Poffenberger.

He resided in the area most of his life and was a foundry supervisor/leadman - Centrifugal Operations. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Gulf War.

He is survived by his wife, the former Connie S. Cross; a son, Shea Poffenberger of Hanoverton; a daughter, Margo Poffenberger of Alliance; a step-daughter, Alisha Fata of Salem; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Neil Poffenberger of Hanover, Pa., and Kirk Poffenberger of Salem.

He was preceded in death by a son, Seth Poffenberger.

A celebration of life service will be observed at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral Home with Father Thomas C. Eisweirth officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Franklin Square Cemetery.

Mr. Poffenberger will receive full military honors on Saturday evening at the funeral home.
