The valve on the new Roosevelt Avenue water tank was opened Tuesday afternoon by city officials and members of the Salem Utilities Commission. The 500,000-gallon tank was built at a cost of $1.43 million to supply water for east side development. The city is paying about $750,000 while the Ohio Public Works Commission provided a $675,674, 20-year, zero-interest loan.
