David Blair Moore
SALEM - David Blair Moore, 72, of 793 E. 6th Street, Salem, died at 3 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009 at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio.
He was born Aug. 29, 1937 in Lisbon, Ohio, the son of the late William B. Jr. and Ruth R. (Spence) Moore.
Before his retirement in 1999, Mr. Moore had worked as an accountant/treasurer for Salem Label Company for 35 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Lisbon. He was a 1955 graduate of David Anderson High School in Lisbon and graduated from Miami University (of Ohio)
with a bachelor's degree in History and English. He played alto sax in the marching band.
Mr. Moore served with the U.S. Army during peacetime and was stationed in Turkey and the former West Germany.
He was an avid reader and was fond of reciting poetry, some of which was all his own. Mr. Moore also enjoyed traveling, listening to European folk music, collecting and restoring antiques, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his honesty, modesty, sense of humor and thoughtfulness for others.
His wife, Mary (Grahach) Moore, whom he married July 24, 1965, survives him along with two sons, David M. Moore and Aaron J. Moore, both of Salem; and a brother, William B. (Dian) Moore III of Lisbon.
An infant son, Thomas Blair Moore, preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Sinclair officiating. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Lisbon Cemetery.
