SALEM
Collision
Jeffrey Riddle, 50, 181 W. Seventh St., was northbound on North Ellsworth at 10:33 a.m. Wednesday and had his turn signal on to turn left onto West Third. Delma Lora, 60, 12895 Duck Creek Road, stopped eastbound on Third, believed Riddle was going to turn right, but he turned left as she turned left. The two vehicles collided in the intersection and Lora was cited with failure to yield. No injuries were reported.
Theft
Wal-Mart security reported at 3:08 p.m. Tuesday attempting to stop Jay Weston, 10738 Main St., New Middletown, who allegedly tried to take $54 in merchandise from the store. He fled on foot, but was found inside the Verizon store across the street. Weston was charged with theft.
Domestic
A domestic dispute was reported in a parking lot at 667 New Garden Ave. at 2:27 p.m. Tuesday. A father and son argued after the father picked him up from school and the boy got out of the vehicle in the parking lot and ran to the Suburban Market. Police took the boy to where his mother works and talked to her about what happened.
Harassment
A Prospect St. woman reported at 11:42 p.m. Tuesday a man has been calling, harassing her over a personal matter and she wanted the situation documented in case of further problems.
A mother at 578 E. Third St. reported a girl harassing her son at 5:41 p.m. Tuesday. The matter has been ongoing. The police tried to call the girl on her cell phone, but did not reach her.
Assault
A South Lincoln Ave. woman reported at 7:09 p.m. Tuesday a man she knows assaulted her over personal property and pushed her out of his apartment when she would not leave.
East Pershing crash
Joel Johnston, 46, 1816 Southeast Blvd., was southbound on South Madison at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday and stopped at the intersection with East Pershing. He did not see crossing traffic and attempted to go through the intersection when he struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Steven Mango, 21, 26890 Summers Road, East Rochester. Mango and his passenger, Jessica Summers, 19, 893 Cunningham Road, were taken to Salem Community Hospital by family to be checked for possible injuries. Johnston was cited with failure to yield at the stop sign.
Theft investigated
Wal-Mart security reported at 12:01 p.m. Tuesday that sometime overnight someone stole $2,836 in merchandise from the store. The matter remains under investigation.
Evidence found
An item found in a parking lot by an employee at 450 W. Pershing St. at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday was taken into evidence. It had been reported stolen earlier during a rash of thefts from Lease Drug and several doctor's offices about 10 days ago.
LISBON
No show
Tim Jividen reported Monday trading an ATV for a 1984 Corsica with the Motorcycle Dream Shop several weeks ago but he has yet to receive the title. The car doesn't run and Jividen wants his ATV back. Arrangements were made for Jividen to meet an officer at the shop but Jividen never showed up.
Paintball vandals
An official at Agland on South Lincoln Avenue reported Monday the property was shot up with paintballs, with the paintballs striking the grain dryer, signs and air conditioner and leaving dents.
Threats made
A Sherman Street woman reported Tuesday a woman she knows walked into her home uninvited and began threatening her. She said the woman acted defiant but eventually left after threatening to assault her.
Music complaint
Police were called to West High Street home at 2:24 p.m. Tuesday in regard to a loud music complaint. The resident was told to play the music lower.
Police were called to the home of Lance Stiffel, McKinley Avenue, at 10:44 p.m. Tuesday after a complaint was received that someone in the home was playing a guitar so loud it was shaking windows in other homes. The officer told Stiffel to cease playing so loud in the morning and late in the evening.
Theft reported
A Pendleton Street woman reported Tuesday this past summer a teenage boy was at her home and left wearing her daughter's shoes. She later discovered other items missing and the boy admitted to her he stole them. She spoke with the boy's mother and he returned some but not all of the items.
Well being check
An officer was asked to check on the well-being of a resident living in an apartment on East Washington Street on Tuesday afternoon, where the resident was reportedly acting strange and walking around in her underwear.
Bad check charge
David Stokes, 49, Spillway Road, Guilford Lake, was charged Monday with writing a bad check to East of Chicago.
Robert L. Hays, 19, Sherman Street, was charged Monday with writing a bad check to Foxes Pizza Den.
Danny W. Grace, 42, West Perry Street, Salem, was charged Monday with writing a bad check to Pilmer's Auto Parts.
