Ruth A. Colkitt
POLAND-Ruth A. Colkitt, 86, of West Calla Road, Poland, Ohio, passed away at 10:10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Parkside Health Care Center from infirmities of age.
Ruth was born Dec. 20, 1922 in Rossiter, Pa., the daughter of James and Maime (Mooney) Hawk.
Mrs. Colkitt was a 1940 graduate of Rossiter High School and worked as a waitress at the Fonderlac Country Club in Poland and at the Mansion Restaurant in Youngstown from which she retired. Ruth was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Sweet Adeline's Youngstown Chapter and a member of the Rag Dolls Quartet. Ruth also enjoyed cooking, gardening and growing flowers.
Ruth was preceded in death on Dec. 19, 1996, by her husband, Earl L. Colkitt, whom she married on July 2, 1942.
Mrs. Colkitt is survived by one daughter, Lisa Kaufman and fiance, Ken Waldron of Boardman, Ohio; three sons, Bradley (Susan) Colkitt of Phoenix, Ariz., Kirt Colkitt of Germania, Pa., and Vaughn (Carol) Colkitt of North Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Brian, Jessica, Jason, Vicki, Aaron; three great-grandchildren, Patricia, Destiny, Kaylee; and one great-great-granddaughter, Faith.
Ruth was preceded in death by five brothers and one infant sister.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at the Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima with Rev. Renae Meggitt officiating. Burial will be in North Lima Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that material contributions be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church memorial fund, 12062 South Ave. North Lima, Ohio 44452.
