CDA lunch

SALEM-Catholic Daughters of the Americas will meet for lunch and Christmas caroling at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Ruritan parties

COLUMBIANA-The Fairfield Township Ruritan Club will be celebrating the holidays by hosting two Christmas parties this week. On Thursday evening, the club will host its annual holiday party for the boys from the Rogers Honor Farm. Christmas dinner will be served, and gifts of clothing, toys and games will be distributed.

The public is welcome to attend. Reservations are needed by calling 330-482-2561.

The club will hold its annual Christmas party for the county's handicapped children at noon Friday at the Columbiana Middle School. The children will have lunch, gifts, and a special visit from Santa Claus will make a special visit. These events are paid for through the Ruritan club's community fund-raisers held throughout the year.

LISBON-The Beaver Local Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 in the high school media center.

Cookie walk

FRANKLIN SQUARE-Franklin Square United Methodist Church's annual cookie walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church at 37615 Olde State Route 558. Cookies will be sold by the pound, and homemade soup will be sold by the quart.

Christmas concert

HANOVERTON-"Christ the Newborn King" is the theme of the Allegheny Wesleyan College's annual Christmas presentation to be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 in the auditorium at United Local High School. The 35-member choir, accompanied by Valerie Quales, will perform along with ensembles and student selections. College President Dr. Robert England and Music Director, Don Quales invite the public to attend this Christmas concert. No tickets are needed for admission. For information call 330-337-6403.

Breakfast buffet

SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Dec. 19 at the Salem Masonic Temple, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, home fries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea. The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Temple Building Fund.
